Age ratings and 18+ books

Every book carries a rating, shown on its cover and on its page, so you can tell before you start rather than three chapters in.

Books rated 18+ open only for a reader who has confirmed they are an adult. You confirm once, in the app, and it is remembered afterwards, we do not ask again every time.

That confirmation is why an 18+ book will not open on the website even if you are signed in. A tick box on a web page that anybody can click is not an age check, and pretending otherwise would be worse than being honest that this one happens in the app.
