Terms of service

These terms are between you and Rinik Tech Ltd (company number 17452502, registered office London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom), who operate Kpnovel. By using Kpnovel you accept them.

1. Who may use Kpnovel

Anyone may read the free chapters. To make an account you must be 13 or over. Books rated 16 and 18 are hidden until you confirm your age. To write for Kpnovel you must be 18 or over — that is in the writer agreement, not here.

If you are under 18, please do not spend money on Kpnovel without the permission of whoever pays the bill.

2. Stones

Stones are how chapters are unlocked. They come in three ways: bought, earned (a daily check-in, a rewarded advert, small tasks), or given.

Stones are not money. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, cannot be transferred to another account, and are a licence to read rather than a thing you own. This is the same arrangement every app store requires.

Earned stones expire at midnight UK time on the day they are earned. Bought stones do not expire while your account is open. The app shows both balances separately and always has.

If you delete your account, any remaining stones go with it and are not refundable.

3. What unlocking gets you

Unlocking a chapter gives you the right to read it on Kpnovel, for as long as your account exists and the book is on the platform. It is not a copy and it is not a sale: you cannot download, copy, redistribute, republish, translate or sell what you unlock, and you cannot put it into a system that generates text from other people's writing.

If a writer takes a book down, the chapters you have already unlocked stay available to you. We will not take a paid chapter away from you because somebody else changed their mind.

4. Prices change

The price of a chapter, the number of stones in a pack, and what the daily check-in pays are all things we adjust. Anything you have already unlocked stays unlocked at the price you paid. We do not retrospectively charge you more.

5. What you may not do

• Publish, post or send anything covered by the Content rules, which are part of these terms.
• Pretend to be somebody else, or pretend your account is somebody else's.
• Try to get stones you have not earned — including manipulating adverts, exploiting a bug, or running more than one account to claim the same reward. Where this happens we may remove the stones, and repeat attempts end the account.
• Scrape, bulk-download or republish Kpnovel's books, whether by hand or by machine.
• Attack the service, or attempt to reach parts of it that are not yours.

6. Comments and reviews

What you write in a comment or a review stays yours. By posting it you give us permission to show it on Kpnovel.

We moderate. A comment can be removed and an account can be muted or suspended. If we do that to you, we will tell you why.

7. Suspension and ending your account

You can delete your account at any time, in the app. See the privacy policy for what happens then.

We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms. Where we do, we will say what rule was broken. If money is owed to you as a writer, ending your access does not cancel it.

8. If Kpnovel is unavailable

We do our best to keep Kpnovel running and sometimes it will not be. We do not promise uninterrupted service, and we will not compensate you for time it was down. Where a fault of ours costs you stones you had paid for, tell us and we will put it right.

9. Our responsibility, and its limits

Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you have paid us in that period.

Kpnovel publishes fiction written by other people. We review chapters before they go live, but the views in a story are the author's and not ours.

10. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. If a change matters, we will show it to you and ask you to accept it, and until you do, the version you accepted is the one that applies.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you live elsewhere and your local law gives you rights as a consumer that cannot be signed away, you keep those rights.
