The Thirteenth Bride

On the night of the Winter Moon, Rihana Vael catches her fated mate opening the eastern gate to the raiders who have been burning the North. Then he puts a knife in her back.

Three months later, her brother’s kingdom is losing the war. The masked Lycan King of the South offers two thousand warriors in exchange for her hand, and Rihana says yes. She has decided she will never feel anything again, so one marriage is as good as another.

But when she arrives at the Red House, the King hasn’t sent for a bride. He has called the Luna Trials, and she is the thirteenth woman competing to become his queen. There’s a race against the tide across deadly mudflats, a hunt, a feast laced with poison, and a climb up the mountain the Southerners call the Fang. The South expects the cold Northern princess to go home within a week.

She doesn’t go home. She makes friends she can’t afford to lose, she finds a rival worth respecting, and a scarred farrier in the outer stables makes her laugh when nothing else can. Someone on the King’s council is feeding the raiders, and the traitor who broke her heart has come south to find her.

Can you choose not to love? No. But you can choose who.

A fierce, slow-burn fantasy romance about betrayal, grit and the woman who refuses to be anyone’s sacrifice.
