The One Sin I Couldn't Resist

She came to mend his books. She never knew he broke her father.

Ximena Montoya is a book restorer with steady hands and a sick father. When the stern, silver haired Judge Raphael Thornfield hires her to repair his late wife’s library, she takes the job for the money and swears to keep it professional.

Then the snow comes. One storm, one dark house, one candle, and a rule he has kept for years starts to break.

Raphael knows exactly who she is. He knew the moment he read her name on the contract. Seven years ago he sentenced her father to prison and has doubted the verdict ever since. He stayed silent then. He stays silent now.

When the truth comes out, she walks away. When the town finds out about them, it gets ugly. Photographs, headlines, a suspension, and a smiling man who has been waiting a long time for the Thornfield name to fall.

But somewhere in that library, hidden in the spine of one old book, sits the proof that could clear her father and bring down the people who framed him.

Some sins are worth confessing. Some loves are worth the whole town watching.
