The Ninth Ark

Everyone knows there were eight arks. Eight great ships carried humanity away from a dying Sun, and all eight reached the new world of Haven. Asha Kovač, sixteen, lives on the ninth.

Lodestar is the ark nobody remembers, lost in a blind jump seven years ago and still drifting, its people rationed to a few litres of water a day. Then a crashed pilot brings news that changes everything.

Haven exists, Asha’s mother is alive there, and the Admiral who rules it is about to fire a dead star’s heart into the Sun to destroy the creatures eating its light. That would also kill the last people left on Earth.

Asha has a stolen key, a brother who counts the stars, a grandmother with a secret, and a ship held together with scrap and stubbornness.

She has learned that the monsters in the dark are only hungry, and now she must race across the galaxy to prove it before the last light goes out.
