Fifty-Nine Hours

Valeria Navarro Ibáñez is a pediatric nurse who notices everything. When she wakes in a cold mountain cabin with a pounding head, a sweet taste in her mouth and both wrists tied to an iron bed with her own bridal silk, she takes inventory the way she does on a night shift: pulse, pupils, smell of pine smoke, the sound of a man humming downstairs.

It is her honeymoon. The man downstairs is Emiliano, her husband of fifty-nine hours, the man who built her a fire, made her chocolate with his own hands, and swore he would give her everything. He has no intention of letting her leave. He is gentle, patient, and utterly certain that if she only stays long enough, she will remember why she said yes.

Outside, a storm is closing the road. Inside, every room holds a small lie, every drawer a clue, and a stepbrother who may be the only person who suspects what Emiliano really is.

As the snow rises and the generator fails, Valeria has to decide how far she is willing to go to survive, and whether the man she married was ever who she thought, while the people who love her race a blizzard to reach her.
