Chosen by the King of Mordrith

For two hundred years the Beasts have ruled, and humans like Avalyne have served. She is twenty-four and sure of only two things: her best friend Riven, and keeping her head down.

Then she is sent north to Mordrith, the most feared kingdom of all, to clean the rooms of King Lucius. He is young, ruthless and rumoured to have torn out a man’s heart, yet his Beast goes quiet whenever she is near.

A human can’t be a Beast King’s mate, and a bond like theirs could set off a rebellion.

As enemies circle and someone in the shadows plots to break her trust, Avalyne has to decide whether the King’s chosen can become the Queen who sets her people free.
